The author is Julie Satow who grew up after the invention of shopping malls and discount clothing stores like Walmart or Target. In New York City three women rose to the top. Hortense Odium of Bonwit Teller, Dorothy Shaver of Lord and Taylor, and Geraldine Stutz at Henri Bendels are the three women who ran the stores into successful high end shopping experiences. So this book is a biography of the three women but also a book about business and history. This book was well researched, comprehensive and interesting.
