Puerto Vallarta

Ostrich foot leather inside a leather store.

Greater Kiskadee sighting at lunch. Three kiskadees were flying around next to the stream.

Tequila tasting. I had only two samples. The one on the far right tasted terrible. This is new (raw) tequila. The second from the left tasted much better. This is a small amount of tequila combined with coffee and cinnamon.

Outside our restaurant in the mountain village.

View of our restaurant from the bridge.

I took a Gray Line tour of old and new Puerto Vallarta. There must be a joke book for tour guides because this is the second time I heard I was welcome to visit the church but was advised not to go to confession because it would take too long. Old Puerto Vallarta had narrow streets not built for buses like the Gray Line Tour takes. We went to an expensive silverjewelry/arts and crafts store. But we got a free margarita with lime around the rim of the plastic cup, dipped in sale, filled with tequila, lime juice, crushed ice and Sprite. Our guide said the more tequila we drink the more money we spend. After that we went to a leather store where I held the leather from an ostrich foot. We had lunch up in the mountain where I had a mango margarita (but couldn't finish it) and a veggie fajita. After lunch we went to another tequila factory. We were all handed shot glasses. He had raw tequila. I tasted that and it was awful. He had tequila aged 3 months. I passed. He had tequila aged 1 year which was a yellowish brown. I passed. He had tequila mixed with mango juice. I passed on that. He had a traditional Mexican tequila which is mostly coffee, some chocolate, some cinnamon and only 18% tequila. That was tasty. The final tequila was mixed with coconut milk and I passed on that. I had enough tequila and was ready for a quart of plain water. As we drove back to the pier brown pelicans and frigate birds flew overhead.
