I like to listen to humorous audiobooks in the car which is why I borrowed Standard Deviation by Katherine Heiny. This story is set is current times in New York City. The tale is narrated by Graham who is sixty years old, married for the second time, and father to a ten year old son named Matthew. He compares the personality of his first wife, Elspeth, to his second wife, Audra. His two wives are very different. One is organized, distant, and a successful lawyer. The other is messy, over the top friendly, and a successful art designer. Graham and his wife were told that their son was more than one standard deviation away from normal. How Graham and his wife try to make a good life for Matthew is very endearing. When Matthew joins a local origami group the cast of strange characters gets even larger.
