The Coin

I am not sure that I fully understood the book, The Coin by Yasmin Zaher. The story is set in 2016 in New York City. A young Palestinian woman lives in an apartment. She has a job teaching young black boys at a school. Most of her funds come from an inheritance from the car crash that killed her parents. She gets involved with this well dressed homeless man. Together they make money buying Birkin handbags and reselling them for more money. She wears designer clothes. She has an obsession with cleanliness and goes into detail about her hygiene routines. She also writes in a "stream of consciousness" style like Virginia Wolf which I do not appreciate.
