The Sea Glass Sisters

Well known writer, Lisa Wingate wrote The Sea Glass Sisters. The sisters are the mother and maternal aunt of the main character, Elizabeth. Elizabeth is the married parent of two teenagers who works at a 911 dispatch office. One night she gets a call about a missing 3 year old girl and sends the police to the wrong gas station. Crippled by grief, she spends what little free time she has looking for the girl. Then her mother asks her to travel with her from Michigan to Cape Hatteras, North  Carolina, to convince her aunt to move back to Michigan. Elizabeth dreads the long car ride with her mother. Once they arrive they find their aunt having a large pre-hurricane party with the neighbors. Elizabeth and her mother decide to ride out the hurricane as the aunt does not want to leave. Driving the aunt back to her shop that sells sea glass crafts, they come upon a woman holding a limp girl in her arms on the road. Elizabeth promptly starts CPR and brings the girl back to life. Later she gets a call saying the little girl in Michigan was found and was deceased for 6 hours prior to her mother making the 911 call. This was a short (89 pages) cute little book that took my mind off my troubles for a while. Besides, I have been to Cape Hatteras that time I visited the Wilbur and Orville Wright national park in Kittyhawk.
