Good Dirte

Charmaine Wilkerson is the author of the historical fiction novel called Good Dirt. Ebby lives in a New England town. When she is 10 years old, intruders break into their house with the intention of stealing a large jug that has been in the family for generations. Her older brother confronts the thieves and they shoot him. Ebby feels responsible for his death. The story goes back and forth in time. We learn about the enslaved man who made the jug, Ebby's great great great grandfather. The story isn't told linearly but I found it easy to keep track of the characters.
