Kitty Hawk

Yesterday I drove almost the entire length of North Carolina from Myrtle Beach, SC to Kitty Hawk, NC. Today I visited the Wright Brothers National Memorial. Here is a look at the replica of the Wright brother's plane inside the museum. Outside it was very windy. That is why Wilbur and Orville traveled from their home in Indiana to Kitty Hawk. There is an abundance of wind here. After looking around inside the museum for 45 minutes I went outside and walked the grounds for over an hour. I'm glad my sun hat has a chin strap.

This is the Kitty Hawk hill. Today it was easy to walk up this big hill because there were sidewalks circling up the hill. But when Wilbur and Orville were here it was all loose sand. Some times their steps would collapse in the sand forcing them backwards. On top of that they were carrying heavy glider planes up the hill. North Carolina takes the Wright brothers very seriously. The NC license plate says "First In Flight." I have more photos but no luck uploading them tonight for some reason.
