I was in the mood for a book of short stories so I borrowed Interpreter Of Maladies by Jhumpa Lahin. This book was published in 1999. The nine short stories are about Indians and Indian/Americans who are between their ancestral roots and the new world in America. In the chapter regarding the title, an Indian American man gets a job with a doctor interpreting languages. I enjoyed the book including the description of the neighborhoods, the foods, and the clothes.
