Ely

Today I drove to Ely along Highway 2 and Highway 1 hoping to see a moose or a wolf. I saw no moose and no deer. On Highway 1 the trees come real close to the road and the speed limit is 50 so I was fine with seeing no deer. I didn't want to drive that road in the dark so I left about 3:30 p.m. I can drive Highway 61 in the dark just fine. I did see a rat crossing Highway 1. I met my cousin and his wife at a restaurant. I got there a half hour early so I parked at Zup's supermarket and walked downtown to the restaurant. We had a great lunch. We laughed and talked from 1 until 3:30. They gave me a ride in their Ford pick up so I wouldn't have to drive in the dark. We have very similar values. They love travel and Great Courses DVDs. So do I. They value relationships over property and so do I. They had nothing but praise for my Dad and I was grateful for their devotion to him. They even invited me to stay the night at their place but I declined their kind offer. They occasionally see moose on those highways. Once she saw a wolf about 2 feet from their porch door but her husband was still asleep. She said the wolf was beautiful. They had just returned from a great trip to Ireland and England. She said she went to a concentration camp in Poland in the early 1970's by herself. This was before the concentration camps were a tourist destination. She was there with one other guy who's father was in this camp and he gave her a tour of the camp. She said she will never forget the huge pile of shoes and the huge pile of human hair that they used for mattresses. Wow, that left an impression on me. She knew many people that I also knew. We may have even taken a birding class together!

Okay, I will admit I didn't go to Stonehenge. I went to the Belwin Conservancy in Afton. I felt like I had been to Stonehenge though. I ...
