Driving north from Winona, MN, I listened to a very funny audio book called Sure, I'll Join Your Cult: A Memoir Of Mental Illness And The Quest To Belong Anywhere by a stand up comedian called Maria Bamford. There is a tremendous amount of cussing in this book so if you are not a fan of cussing, don't listen to this book. I am not a fan of cussing but I did enjoy Maria's story of growing up and living with OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder). Born in Duluth, MN, Maria currently lives in California with her husband and does very well for herself. Her life has not been easy. Ever a fan of 12 step programs, she belongs to Overeaters Anonymous, Gamblers Anonymous, and Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous. These groups help her. She also has Bi-Polar and has been hospitalized 3 times when she went off her meds. Her flavor of humor is not for everyone but I enjoyed it. This is not something I would listen to in public though.
