Strawberry Moon

Last night a sibling (the photographer) and I plus two nieces did the second frog and toad survey near Kroschel, Minnesota. The temperature was in the sixties and the wind was calm when we started. Fire flies blinked at us from the ditch. We heard spring peepers, tree frogs, American toads, green frogs and mink frogs. Several barred owls were calling at 3 stops. Sedge wrens were talking and we're not sure what they are talking about at night. A fox crossed the road under a street lamp. We found a painted turtle shell. The nieces caught several toads and one leopard frog. Today we are all a little anemic from all the mosquito bites. I found 8 more live mosquitoes in my car this morning.
