Last night I had a Zoom class about bird photography. The instructor taught musicology at Saint Olaf College. He has always had an interest in birds and photography and art and he is a member of the MN Ornithological Union Board. The internet connection was shaky for all of us. Turns out it works better if the students turn off their cameras. He had so many beautiful photos and portraits of birds. He tried to go through them month by month. He had eagles from Red Wing. He had boreal chickadees from the Sax Zim bog. He had wood storks from swamps north of Miami. He had a leucistic robin from his own back yard. He had a hooded warbler from Ohio where his grandchildren live. He has a showing of his photography in a coffee shop in Northfield. He talked about his cameras and lens. He does not use a tripod anymore because he says the new cameras have great stabilization features. He gave an interesting talk which of course went overtime and he did not get to show all he wanted to show us.
